Rocket to the Moon

A long long time ago when I was young,

at Grayford Park I met someone.

She was pretty, smart and dreamy-eyed,

and for me she was the one.

One day we went to Grayford Park

to watch the sun set over the skyline.

She leaned close to me and whispered

“One day I’ll come out and shine.”

Two years later for our anniversary,

we went to Grayford Park to watch the stars.

She hugged me and whispered

“One day I’ll fly to Mars.”

Five years later for our honeymoon,

We went to Grayford Park to drink champagne.

She kissed me and whispered

“One day I’ll be okay.”

Three months later we went to Grayford Park

to celebrate the end of june.

I leaned in close and whispered

“One day you’ll fly a rocket to the moon.”

Two years later we went to Grayford Park

to celebrate her attribution.

But she held me close and whispered

“I think I need a vacation.”

One month later I went to Grayford Park

to forget the heartache she had left behind.

I closed my eyes and whispered

“One day she’ll leave my mind.”

One year had gone by and I went to Grayford Park,

to watch the sun set over the skyline.

And there, high, high in the sky,

flew a rocket to the moon.
